Owensboro Dance Theatre will be hosting a Flamenco master class with Larissa (May) Guy, a former ODT Company member and currently a professional dancer with Flamenco Louisville, on August 20, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. at Johnson’s Dance Studio, 2705 Breckenridge St. Owensboro, KY 42303.
Larissa Guy began her dance training in Owensboro at age 4. Throughout her high school years, she danced as a company member with the Owensboro Dance Theatre. She attended Governor’s School for the Arts, Jazz on Tap, Jazz Dance World Congress, and was awarded a full scholarship to study at Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago.
While living in Chicago, Larissa danced professionally with Deeply Rooted Dance Theater and Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater. She discovered flamenco while studying Spanish at Northeastern Illinois University.
Since returning to Kentucky, Larissa enjoys working as a Spanish Interpreter for the Kentucky State Government and dancing with Flamenco Louisville as a company member and soloist. In 2010 and 2014 Larissa had the wonderful opportunity to travel to the birthplace of flamenco, Seville, Spain for professional development and immersion into the culture and passionate art form she has grown so attracted to. Larissa is an active educator teaching Flamenco at the Flamenco Louisville Studio and Louisville Ballet School.
The cost of Saturday’s master class will be $20.
