Southern Business & Development Magazine, a leading economic development publication focusing on business and industry in the Southeast, has named Owensboro among the “Best in the American South” in multiple categories.
In a time when the strength of a community’s workforce is increasingly important for the community to remain competitive, Owensboro has been named one of three communities in Kentucky as “Small Markets in Kentucky with the Best Manufacturing Workforce.”
“It is wonderful for a publication such as Southern Business & Development Magazine to recognize the incredible talent and efforts of our local workforce,” said Jessica Boarman, Workforce Development Manager for the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation.
In addition to workforce accolades, Owensboro was also named by the magazine as one of “Kentucky’s Best Locations for Startups.”
Joe Berry, GO-EDC’s Vice President for Entrepreneurship stated, “It is incredibly validating for this region. We have spent the last several years improving Owensboro’s ecosystem for entrepreneurs. It is flattering to be listed along with cities like Lexington and Louisville that, not only have been doing this longer, but have the resources of state universities behind them. I’m very pleased.”
