Continuing one of Owensboro’s most beloved traditions, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra (OSO) will present its Holiday Pops! concert on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the RiverPark Center’s Cannon Hall.
The program will feature audience favorites from its past 50 years of holiday programming, including the ever-popular “Sleigh Ride,” and the traditional audience holiday sing-along.
“This will be an afternoon you will not want to miss!” said Nick Palmer, Music Director and Conductor of the Symphony.
A sleigh full of guest artists will join the OSO for carols, cherished holiday tunes, seasonal orchestral pieces and a Christmas carol sing-along. Guests include American Idol finalist, Jenny Beth Willis, Owensboro Symphony Chorus, Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra, a combined children’s chorus from City and County Elementary Schools, Owensboro High School Red Steel Drum Ensemble, Owensboro Symphony Brass Quartet and actors from Theater Workshop of Owensboro.
“This year’s Holiday Pops! concert will feature more local talent in one concert than ever before in the 50 year history of the Symphony,” said Dan Griffith, Chief Executive Officer of the Symphony. “It will feature Owensboro’s own at their best and we are excited to showcase our local talent!”
In the Symphony’s continuing efforts to build deeper relationships within the community, residents from Wendell Foster’s Campus For Developmental Disabilities will be the Symphony’s special guests for Holiday Pops! Symphony patrons, in the spirit of giving, are being encouraged to bring any type of hospitality gift card to the concert. Donated gift cards will be given to Wendell Foster residents. These small gifts are assured to make someone’s day a little more magical during the holiday season!
Holiday Pops! is sponsored by Aleris Rolled Products. Guest Artist Sponsors are Hafer Associates and Independence Bank.
