The Owensboro Police Department is holding our 3rd annual Operation Santa food drive. We have teamed up with the Elizabeth Munday Center to gather food supplies for those regularly served by the Meals on Wheels program.
Members of the Owensboro Police Department have donated weekly food items to help provide gift baskets to approximately 300 community members. The donations have been generously supplemented by local businesses.
On Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at 9 a.m., members of the Owensboro Police Department and their families will gather inside the station’s community room like Santa’s elves, with holiday music filling the air. In an assembly line fashion that would make Henry Ford proud, tables will be set up to streamline the process of placing each item into the gift boxes as they make their way around the room. Once the boxes are ready they will be loaded up in makeshift sleighs; police cruisers, supervisor’s SUVs, and even the Emergency Response Team van. Then Santas in blue, with lists in hand, will begin their journey across Owensboro to deliver their goods.
We would like to thank the following businesses for their generosity:
- Wal-Mart – Hwy 54
- IGA
- Unilever
- Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline
- Lowe’s
- Kimberly Clark
- Kings Pantry
- R and B Foods
- McCarty’s
- Evergreen Lawn Care
- Lou’s Distributing
….as well as the many individuals who donated money!
P.S. – Cookies and milk are optional!
