Longtime OHS Head Football Coach Joe Prince announced today that he is resigning as the head football coach at Owensboro High School. Coach Prince is taking a head football coaching job at Fauquier High School in Warrenton, Va. Prince will also teach at Fauquier High School.

“It’s been a great run as leader of the Red Devils Football Team. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it but my daughter recently moved to Virginia and she and her husband are expecting a baby. Being close to my family is so important to me. Although I’m sad to have to leave Owensboro High School, I’m excited for this new opportunity,” said Joe Prince, OHS Head Football Coach.

“I have known Joe for his entire twenty-seven years in education and have the utmost respect for him. He is a true friend and a great coach, which we will certainly miss,” said Dr. Chris Gaddis, OPS Athletic Director.

Prince became the head football coach of the Red Devils in 2003. During his tenure, the Devils have had 10 winning seasons including eight city/county championships. This past season the Devils were state runners-up. Prince also served as an assistant coach at OHS before becoming head coach at Ohio County, Union County and Louisville Eastern.

“One of Coach Prince’s best qualities is he cares about his players’ success in the classroom as much as their success on the football field. He will be missed,” said Dr. Nick Brake, OPS Superintendent.

Prince will take over as head football coach of the Fauquier Falcons this fall. Fauquier High School is a 4-A school with about 1200 students. Owensboro High School will soon put together a search committee to find the next leader for the Owensboro High School Football Program.
