The Kentucky Mavericks finished their first regular season in the Premier Basketball League 19-1, giving them a first-round bye and home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
This weekend the four-time National Champions begin their “Drive for Five” Saturday night at the Sportscenter, April 16, 2016. Tipoff at 7 p.m., beginning a best 2 of 3 series against second-place Lake Michigan Admirals.
The Mav’s last meeting with the Admirals at the Sportscenter was the closest home game all year, with the Mavs winning 96-89 thanks in part to a clutch play by PJ Couisnard.
PJ will return to the roster for Saturday’s game after sitting out the last two games with an injury.
“We know we are in for a battle Saturday night at home against an excellent team,” said Coach, Steve Tucker. “I have known Chris Glisson (the Admirals Owner) for years. He has always put very good and competitive teams on the court with his Admirals. This year’s team is no different, led by Nicholas Waddell, Stan Simpson, and Anthony Spencer.”
Veteran power forward/center, Alex Sanders, says this is his favorite time of year. “This is when all the practices, sweat, blood, and hard work the team has put in has a chance to pay off. The Mavs have an opportunity to with our fifth championship, but it won’t be without some challenges. But I’m certain we are up for those challenges.”
Tickets for playoffs and finals can be purchased online at mavup.com or at the Mavericks office at 817 W 1st Street weekdays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
