The Daviess County Public Schools district will offer drivers education classes to students who are 16 years old and who have a driving permit this summer. Classes are not limited to DCPS students.
Registration is available at www2.dcps.org/summer (note “2” in address) until Friday, May 27. Registration fee is $100 and is not refundable to students who begin the class but do not complete the program.
Registered students will meet from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Apollo High School for a classroom session. The final exam is scheduled from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30. A driving schedule will be distributed on June 13. From June 14-29, students will be required to attend class only the days they are assigned to drive. Students should be dropped off and picked up at the Apollo High School gymnasium entrance on Gemini Drive. Classes will take place in Room 701.
Students will be assigned written work to complete outside the class. Internet access is required for completion of assignments.
Students must take their driving permits to class each day. The DCPS dress code and DCPS Student Code of Conduct will be enforced. Students must arrive on time for all sessions.
The enrichment class does not count toward graduation requirements or as part of the student’s grade point average.
