Owensboro Autism Network is proud to announce that Malco Cinema 16 will now be offering a quarterly sensory friendly screening of current movies. Sandra Hammers, Co-Executive Director of Owensboro Autism Network, says a “sensory friendly movie” means a film is shown with all the lights on and the sound level at a much lower volume than normal to accommodate those with sensory disorders.
Showing films in this way could be helpful to more than just the people on the Autism scale. “These films are open to anyone with any disability who could benefit from this, not just those with Autism,” Hammers said.
The first movie is The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. This sensory friendly viewing will be on Saturday, March 28th, 2015 @ 9:30 am. All tickets must be purchased in advance by contacting Sandra or Whitney at 270-852-6505. No tickets will be sold day of.
