The Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools (DCPS) Board of Directors has committed to #GivingTuesday.

The local effort has been named #KidsFirstGivingTuesday. Proceeds raised under this moniker will be designated for DCPS Family Resource & Youth Service Centers in eighteen Daviess County Public Schools. Patrons have several ways to make their donations:

  • Online: FoundationForDCPS.WeShareOnline.org
  • Traditional mail:
    FDCPS – #KidsFirstGivingTuesday
    Attn: Becky Whitehead, Treasurer
    P.O. Box 21510
    Owensboro, KY  42304
  • Drop of donation at any DCPS school in an envelope labeled:
    FDCPS – #KidsFirstGivingTuesday
    Attn: Becky Whitehead, Treasurer

Matt Robbins, Superintendent of Daviess County Public Schools, said “The essence of our Kids First message begins with the foundation that ensures our students have their basic needs met. Our Family Resource & Youth Service Centers do this daily. However, the funds available are inadequate to meet the needs of our kids. We are thankful our Foundation has stepped up to sponsor and promote #KidsFirstGivingTuesday to meet the needs of our students. This giving opportunity allows 100% of the funds donated to meet the direct needs of our community’s children. In advance, I thank each person who makes a choice to give to this worthy cause.”

“Our job at the Foundation for DCPS is to remove barriers to education for students. When a child is self-conscience because her hair and clothing are dirty or his shoes are too small, they cannot concentrate in the classroom. Family Resource & Youth Service Center (FRYSC) staff perform a tremendous service for students and their families throughout the year. We want to make sure FRYSC’s have to tools to meet each need so every student may reach his or her educational potential,” said Foundation for DCPS Executive Director Vicki Quisenberry. “We invite our community to participate in #KidsFirstGivingTuesday. Every donation will help a student in one of our eighteen schools.”

Donors may find out more about #KidsFirstGivingTuesday by contacting the Foundation for DCPS at (270) 231-5583, emailing Vicki Quisenberry ([email protected]) or by watching a Youtube video (search Youtube: DCPS Kids First Giving Tuesday).

According to the #GivingTuesday website (www.givingtuesday.org), “Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. #Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable giving season.”
