Kentucky Thoroughbreds to Kickoff Season January 12, 2018

The Kentucky Thoroughbreds of the (NAPB) North America Premier Basketball League will play a double header against the Patroons of Albany, NY this Friday, January 26 and Saturday, January 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Owensboro Sportscenter.  The Thoroughbreds look to defeat the Patroons to carry on their 4-0 winning streak.

Saturday’s game will be a special commemorative game to honor the life of 8th grade Burns Middle School student, Brookelynne Shannon, who passed away due to complications from the flu on January 15. The team will host a 50/50 raffle during Friday’s and Saturday’s games with half of the proceeds going to Brookelynne’s family. Legends Sports Bar and Grill have sponsored the entire Burns Middle School student body to attend the game to remember their beloved classmate.  Students will receive their tickets through the school directly.  Parents may purchase a ticket at the game at half price ($6). The Thoroughbreds would like to invite the community to help continue their celebration on their 4-0 winning streak and to help honor Brookelynne’s life as a member of our community. #brookelynnestrong

The Thoroughbreds are averaging a LEAGUE BEST at 110 points per game. Thoroughbred Corey Wilford broke the record for most 3’s, and the Thoroughbreds also learned that the #NAPB Player of the week award was given to Tyshawn Patterson for his performances that helped the team stay perfect at 4-0.  The New Albany Patroons signed Jamario Moon who formally played with the NBA from 2007-2012.  Moon has played for the Raptors, Heat, Cavaliers, and the Clippers. The Patroons roster consists of former LA Lakers starting Point Guard, under Coach Phil Jackson, Smush Parker.  The NAPB League released on Monday that the Patroons have now added another former NBA star to their roster – that player’s name is set to be released later this week.

For more questions please contact Steve Baker.  Tickets are on sale at owensborotickets.com or can be purchased the night of the games at the Owensboro Sportscenter box office.
