The Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools in partnership with Kentucky Legend® (a division of Specialty Foods Group, LLC) is pleased to continue their patronage in regards to educational enhancements for students within the Daviess County community.
The public is invited to Exploration Station for the 2nd Annual Book Drive at Friday After Five on May 19, 2017, in downtown Owensboro.
The community is welcomed to drop off age-appropriate books (in good condition) for preschool to young adult students between 5:15 and 8:15 p.m.
Books collected will be taken into neighborhoods this summer and given to children and teens who have little access to reading material during the summer.
During the summer of 2016, Exploration Station traveled to ten neighborhoods with six DCPS schools. During June and July 2017, Exploration Station will visit seventeen neighborhoods with ten DCPS elementary schools for seven weeks. In addition to distributing books during neighborhoods visits, Exploration Station gives books to children who visit the bus during Friday After Five and other community activities.
“Kentucky Legend® takes pride in continuing our support in building a sustainable platform for educational excellence. As a devoted member of the Daviess Country community, it is our continuous promise to contribute and give back to our neighbors in a manner that ensures the success of students for the future,” said Ric Herrera, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Kentucky Legend®.
In addition to the Kentucky Legend Book Drive on May 19, Exploration Station will host virtual reality demonstrations as part of the Book Drive and Friday After Five festivities. Stop by Exploration to see the schedule for Virtual Reality showings.
