The Daviess County Public Schools district has accepted a generous donation of 1,716 pairs of socks from staff and members of Kenergy Corp.
Kenergy organized a “Sock-tober” campaign to collect socks for children and adults, which then were donated to the Family Resource and Youth Services Centers in the counties in which socks were received. Altogether across its coverage area, Kenergy received a total of 3,408 pairs of socks, which then were distributed to FRYSCs in Daviess, Hancock, Ohio, Crittenden, Henderson and Hopkins counties.
DCPS student services coordinator Scott Taylor (second from right in photograph). Taylor said, “This generous contribution of socks illustrates the wonderful support and partnership of Kenergy in meeting basic needs of our students.” Taylor noted that socks are one of the items that are most needed by Family Resource and Youth Services Center but are also among the least donated items of clothing. “With winter approaching, these socks will be especially appreciated as they warm the feet of our students – and the hearts of all those who participated in this campaign.”
Jeanette Weedman, who serves as member engagement coordinator at Kenergy, said, “Sock-tober was a great success, thanks to Kenergy members and employees! Thanks to everyone who donated and helped take part in sharing the warmth this winter!”
