Owensboro Living has been monitoring some posts on social media today about ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) visiting Owensboro Public Schools yesterday.
We reached out to Owensboro Public Schools to get the facts on what happened yesterday.
Dave Kirk, Public Information Officer for Owensboro Public Schools, clarified with Owensboro Living this afternoon. “The safety of our students is always our top priority. We were told ICE was in town on Thursday, September 28. ICE did NOT come to any of our schools.”
Kirk went on to explain that Owensboro High School had several concerned students, so to address those concerns, school authorities “provided the opportunity for those concerned students to come down to the auditorium to answer any questions or concerns they might have. And of course, we allowed them to call their families to make sure they were safe.”
