Apollo and Daviess County high schools are hosting FAFSA Help Nights to provide information and support to families who have questions or need assistance with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid process.
Both events are open to the public.
Everyone is welcome; attendance is not limited to students and families in the Daviess County Public Schools district. Advance registration is not required.
The Apollo event is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017. AHS is located at 2280 Tamarack Road.
The DCHS program will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at the high school, 4255 New Hartford Road.
A free family dinner will be provided at both events, offering pizza, cookies and soft drinks. Free childcare will also be available at the Apollo High School event only.
Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to work with local college financial aid officers from Owensboro Community and Technical College, Brescia University and Kentucky Wesleyan College, who will provide free professional financial assistance for families who are exploring options and opportunities for their high school seniors to attend college next year.
All high school seniors are encouraged to file the FAFSA in the month of October. That application is required before a student can receive financial aid, work study, college loans and many scholarships.
Apollo High School is also planning a mini college fair from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Common Area. Students and parents are invited to meet with college admissions officers representing several colleges and universities across Kentucky.
These programs are sponsored by AHS and DCHS guidance departments and the Youth Service Centers, who work closely with students/families and College and Career Readiness coaches to ensure that every student has the opportunity to attain a college education in his/her field of interest.
