Highland Elementary School is hosting its Leadership Luncheon at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, with special guest Mayor Ron Payne. The event will take place in the media center at the school, located at 2909 Kentucky 54.
Students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and who have exhibited a strong understanding and application of the 7 Habits in school and at home were selected by their teachers to attend this special event. Attendance at HES Leadership Luncheons is a significant honor as there are only two such events each year, attended by one boy and one girl selected from each class.
As part of his remarks, Mayor Payne will encourage Highland’s student leaders to put the 7 Habits of success to work in our community and will inspire students to give back through service learning projects.
Event organizer Laura McCain said, “It is always encouraging to have our community leaders come to school to celebrate the positive impact the 7 Habits have had on their lives and to encourage students to keep growing and learning. These students are our future community leaders and we want them to see firsthand what they can become and aspire to.”
In addition to hearing remarks from Mayor Payne, the Leadership Luncheon will also provide an opportunity for students to share their leadership experiences with one another. Each student will receive a commemorative paperweight as part of this special event.
