Owensboro’s award-winning summer long music festival, Friday After 5, is in the running for a national $25,000 grant and organizers are asking for your vote.
“The Levitt Amps Foundation awards ten $25,000 grants for outdoor festivals that run at least ten consecutive weeks, are free and open to the public, “explains Executive Director Kirk Kirkpatrick. “It’s as though we wrote the requirements ourselves.”
Although Friday After 5 has qualified to be in the running, only the top ten vote getters receive the $25,000 grants.
“The only way for us to win is for supporters in our community to log onto the site and vote for us,” explains Kirkpatrick. “It just takes a moment. You can only vote once but your vote could be worth $25,000.”
Voting only takes place between November 2nd and November 30th. Voters must submit their e-mail address to ensure each vote is legitimate; however, the organization does not release any e-mail addresses. To show your support, vote online here and click on “vote”.
“We are celebrating our 20th anniversary next summer,” said Board Chair Brandon Gentry, “and this additional $25,000 would allow us to bring back some of the biggest bands in our history.”
2016 Chairperson Teresa Thomas agrees, “This additional funding from outside of our community would guarantee our biggest and best season ever next summer and ensure we meet our mission goal of providing a fun, free, family-friendly summer-long festival to every citizen in our community and surrounding region.”
The voting link is also available at FridayAfter5.com and FA5 Facebook Page.
“We’re hoping every citizen will take a moment to help us land the twenty five grand,” states Kirkpatrick. “What a great way to celebrate our 20th anniversary!”
