This year, the Daviess County Public Library is seeking to inspire our adult patrons with a Winter Reading line-up like we’ve never had before. The theme, This Is Your Year @ Your Library, is meant to motivate and encourage our adult patrons to get out and enjoy new experiences in the coming New Year. First up, Get Inspired! @ Your Library. This four part series will provide our patrons with the opportunity to meet and engage with four locals who inspire others on a daily basis with their stories of perseverance in tough times, refusing to give into heartbreak, and providing encouragement to others sharing similar experiences.

After their middle son, SPC Brandon Scott Mullins was killed by an IED attack in Afghanistan August 2011, Tommy and Cathy Mullins became Gold Star Parents, a distinction by Congress recognizing families who have given a life in service of our country. Through their grief and sorrow, they learned of many others with the same loss who are somehow turning their own sorrow into service. Both are now involved with local veterans and their families, helping meet needs through various projects.
