Thanks to the support of the Owensboro community who voted online, Friday After 5 is now a top 25 finalist in the Levitt AMP $25,000 grant award.
Now here’s the really good news: FA5 had the second most votes overall in the national voting!
“The support of the community we serve plays a big role in the judges’ final decision, so a BIG thank you (to Owensboro) for putting us up front!” said FA5 Executive Director, Kirk Kirkpatrick.
The 15 $25,000 winners will be announced Jan. 5, 2016. “We’re hoping for a VERY, VERY Happy New Year!” Kirkpatrick said.
Levitt Pavilions has begun the review process to select the 15 winning Levitt AMP grant recipients, which they say will take until December 31. In an email to Kirkpatrick, Levitt says the most competitive submissions will depend upon a variety of factors, including:
- The characteristics of the public space where the free concert series is to be presented – preference will be given to those spaces that are easily accessible to a range of socio-economic groups.
- A programming philosophy that is inclusive, family-friendly and represents a wide range of music genres, in keeping with the national Levitt program.
- A proven track record of presenting professional quality concerts or partnering with an individual or organization that has done so.
- Community support, as displayed by the number of online votes received.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed! It’s all up to the judges now.
