DCPS Greenhouses Open to the Public

Horticulture and agriculture students at Apollo and Daviess County high schools are preparing their greenhouses to open to the public, selling a variety of flowers and vegetables.

APOLLO HIGH SCHOOL
The Apollo greenhouse is now open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and will also be open Saturday, May 7 – the day before Mother’s Day. (2280 Tamarack Road)

Items for sale include:

  • Boston ferns, wave petunia and mixed hanging baskets for $20
  • Wandering jew, spider plant, Swedish ivy baskets for $15
  • Geraniums in a 4-inch pot for $3
  • Wave petunias, wandering jew, yellow sweet potato vines, Swedish ivy and spikes in 4-inch pots for $2
  • Bedding plants are $15 per tray
  • A four-pack of petunias, verbena, impatiens, snapdragons, marigolds and dianthus for $1.75
  • Other varieties also available

Vegetables include:

  • Jet Star, Celebrity, Rutlers and Roma tomatoes for $1.75 per four-pack
  • California Wonder, early jalapeno, sweet banana and cayenne peppers for $1.75 per four-pack

DAVIESS COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
The DCHS greenhouse is open from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays starting Monday, April 18. (4255 New Hartford Road)

Flowers for sale include:

  • Geraniums – Pinto deep red, pinto white and pinto white splash – $2 each in four-inch pots
  • Petunias – Blue Easy Wave, White Easy Wave and Red Easy Wave – $2 each in four-inch pots
  • Impatiens – Accent Bright Eye, $1.50 each in four-inch pots
  • Marigold – Discovery Yellow, $1.50 per four-pack
  • Vinca (periwinkle) – Jams and Jellies Blackberry – $1.50 each in four-inch pots
  • Begonia – Cocktail Brandy and Baby Wing White – $1.50 each in four-inch pots
  • Lantana – Bandana Lemon Zest – $2 each in four-inch pots
  • Dusty Miller – Silver Dust – $1 per four-pack
  • Salvia (Spike) – Evolution Violet – $1 per four-pack
  • Snapdragon – Cream Yellow – $1 per four-pack
  • Hanging baskets – $10 for 12-inch basket
  • Boston fern – $20 for 12-inch basket

Vegetables include:

  • Pepper varieties – Green Bell Boy, Red Bell Karma, Early Sensation Yellow Bell – $1.50 per four-pack
  • Tomato varieties – Better Boy, California Gold, Mountain Fresh (canning), Jet Star, $2 per four-pack
  • Better Boy in a gallon pot, $1.50 each
