If your high school class is planning a Class Reunion on a Saturday evening between May 20 and September 2, Friday After 5 wants to be your “opening act.”
Most high school reunions are on Saturday. That’s why Friday After 5, the summer-long music festival downtown, hosts all of your classmates on Friday for a ”PreUnion“ the night before.
“We know the classes don’t have any money,” says PreUnion Producer, Julie Taylor, “so we provide everything for free including a ‘pre-registration’ table and chairs, a great band and a beautiful venue overlooking the river surrounded by great music on a warm summer night. We’ll even help promote your ‘PreUnion’ in our marketing. It’s free.”
Friday After 5 hosted more than 30 Class PreUnions last year. “In some cases, classes came together on Friday night and didn’t even have a reunion on Saturday,” said Taylor. “They like being able to get together in a fun atmosphere with good entertainment and a wonderful venue without any timetable. Plus, there’s plenty for them to do with five venues of entertainment and a street fair.”
This year, almost two dozen classes have already “registered” to have a Class PreUnion at Friday After 5. This year’s PreUnions include a special invitation on June 3rd for all graduates of Western High School, that closed several decades ago.
“There have been no real Class Reunions for Western High grads, so one of their graduates put together this PreUnion for everyone who ever attended Western High School,” says Teresa Thomas, this year’s 2016 Friday After 5 chair. “Some of them haven’t seen each other for more than 30 years.”
PreUnion classes can choose from one of two locations this year. The RiverPark Center PreUnions are held in the lobby and include a free table, chairs and free marketing and promotion of the class PreUnion. For an additional fee, PreUnion Classes may rent the “Field Founders Room”, located inside just off the Atmos Energy Courtyard. Class PreUnions can also be held at the Owensboro Convention Center, right in front of the Don Moore “Party at the Pier”. Again, the PreUnions are free and include a special table and chairs right on site at no charge.

Want to register?
“It’s as easier than a pass/fail test,” says Julie Taylor. “Just go to the Friday After 5 website, click on Register for your Class Preunion, fill in the blanks, click submit and we’ll do the rest. It take about 60 to 90 seconds.”
Teresa Thomas suggests looking over the website at FridayAfter5.com and downloading the FA5 app. “Just like Friday After 5, the app is free and it lets you put the entire summer on your phone,” says Thomas. “You’ll find it in the app store.”
