DCPL Hosting Shark Week

For those “staycationing” during Fall Break, consider wading into the water for Shark Week at the Daviess County Public Library.

October 12-16: Shark Scavenger Hunt
Sharks have invaded the children’s area! Find all the sharks to win a prize. All day Mon-Fri.

Tuesday, October 13: Pirate Party
2:00-4:00 Join us in celebration of pirates!

Wednesday, October 14: Wave on Wheels Shark Cart
11:00am & 1:00pm. Join the DCPL at Owensboro High School Auditorium to learn the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and WHY of sharks! Reach your hand into the shark cart to touch a live shark!

Thursday, October 15: Shark Drop-in Craft
3:00-7:00pm. Drop in to create a fun shark craft to take home.

Saturday, October 17: Family Movie Matinee Shark Tale at 2pm

Other October events at DCPL:

Wednesday, October 21: Harry Potter Halloween Party for Teens
6:00-7:30pm. Teens can join us in the Public Lounge for a Harry Potter Halloween party! There will be yummy snacks, wand-making, potion-brewing, and House-sorting! Ages 13 & up. Call 270-684-0211, ext. 3 to register.

October 26 & 29: Candy Caravan
10:00am. For ages 0-5. Joins us for storytime at 10am and stay for a fun parade around the library to gather goodies from library staff. Children are encouraged to dress in costume.

October 27 & 28: Goofy Gourds
4:00pm. Visit our pumpkin patch and decorate a pumpkin to take home. DCPL will provide the supplies and pumpkins as supplies last. Limit one per child. Ages 12-under.

Friday, October 30: Volumes of Blood Screening
Get started on your Halloween celebration a little early with a screening of Volumes of Blood! This feature-length horror film was shot on location at DCPL as part of our Unscripted Film School program. Be sure to dress up! WARNING: Volumes of Blood contains some adult content. Viewer discretion is advised.

Thursday, October 15 @ 6pm
Pat Fitzhugh, writer and co-host of the upcoming A&E series “Cursed!,” is best known for his books about the history, legends, and lore of the American South.

Monday, October 19 @ 6pm
Jerry Deaton, a Kentucky writer and filmmaker, will be stopping by to share ghost stories from Appalachia. Join us for a spooky good time.
