Eight City of Owensboro Neighborhood Alliances will host neighborhood cleanups this year. The cleanups will take place from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on designated Saturdays. All residents in the cleanup areas are encouraged to help beautify the neighborhood by picking up litter along sidewalks and streets on their cleanup day.
The Sanitation Department will provide free curbside pickup for junk furniture, appliances and other items to its residential customers in this neighborhood alliance area on thier designated day. Items must be left at the curb by the Friday night prior to the day of the cleanup.
If you have large items to set out, please call the City Action Line at 270-687-4444 or e-mail [email protected] BY THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THE CLEANUP. Smaller items must be bagged or boxed.
The sanitation crews CANNOT pick up construction debris/materials, yard waste, dirt, paint, or any type of liquid.
Seven Hills Alliance: March 25, 2017
The Seven Hills Alliance includes neighborhoods from Parrish Avenue to Burlew Boulevard, between Breckenridge Street and the east city limits. This alliance meets at Trinity United Methodist at 7:00 p.m. the first Thursday of every month.
Midtown East Neighborhood Alliance Cleanup: April 1, 2017
The Midtown East Alliance extends from Parrish Avenue to Byers Avenue, between Frederica and Breckenridge Streets. The north boundary is 14th Street in the J.Z. Moore neighborhood, between J.R. Miller and Frederica. The alliance meets at Buena Vista Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month.
Audubon-Bon Harbor Alliance Cleanup: April 8, 2017
The Audubon-Bon Harbor Alliance extends from the Ohio River to U.S. 60 West/Fourth Street, between Ewing Road and the west city limits. This alliance meets at Audubon Church of the Nazarene at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of every other month.
Apollo Area Alliance Cleanup: April 15, 2017
The Apollo Area Alliance represents neighborhoods between Carter Road and Frederica Street and between the U.S. 60 Bypass and Southtown Boulevard. The alliance also includes Twin Lakes subdivision, south of Southtown and neighborhoods south of Tamarack Road. The alliance meets at 6:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month at Century Christian Church.
Dogwood Azalea Alliance Cleanup: April 22, 2017
The Dogwood-Azalea Alliance extends from 12th Street to Booth Avenue, between Frederica to Lewis Lane/Roosevelt Road/Werner Avenue. This alliance meets at 5:30 p.m. at Edge Ice Center on the third Thursday of every other month.
Wesleyan-Shawnee Alliance: April 29, 2017
The Wesleyan-Shawnee Neighborhood Alliance extends from Booth Avenue to Tamarack Road, between Frederica Street and Lewis Lane. It also includes residents west of Lewis Lane to the U.S. 60 Bypass, between Tamarack and Scherm Roads. The neighborhood alliance meets at 6:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month at Kentucky Wesleyan College’s Winchester Center.
Northwest Alliance Cleanup: May 6, 2017
The Northwest Alliance extends from the Ohio River to 12th Street, between Frederica and Crabtree, north of Third Street, and the west boundary is Dublin Lane. The neighborhood alliance meets at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the H.L. Neblett Center.
Dugan Best Alliance Cleanup: May 20, 2017
The Dugan Best neighborhood area includes neighborhoods between Dublin Lane and Ewing Road, from the Ohio River to McFarland Avenue. South of Fourth Street, the boundary extends west to Carter Road and Danberry Street. The alliance meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Dugan Best Recreation Center at 5:00 p.m.
