The Western Kentucky Botanical Garden in partnership with Moonlite Catering and Bar-B-Q Inn and the Miller House will host a benefit event, Back Woods Ball: Going to the Pour House, Friday September 25 from 7 until 11 pm at The Big Independent Warehouse in Owensboro.
The event will feature live entertainment, a silent auction, bourbon and beer tastings, and Back Woods Gourmet Cuisine by Moonlite Catering and Bar-B-Q Inn.
“This event is the recipient of the talented minds of Miller House’s Larry Kirk and Moonlite Catering’s Jeanie Bosley Heath. Along with their also talented event leadership, a fun and unique evening is a certainty,” said Susie Tyler, of the WKBG.
Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy live entertainment by singer-songwriter and Austin, TX native, Phoebe Hunt accompanied by Dominick Leslie and Nathaniel Smith; followed by local musicians, the Lanham Brothers including special guests Skylar Cain, Jeff Hardesty and Lelan Isbill.
The inimitable Kirk Kirkpatrick will act as emcee for the evening; bourbon and beer tastings will be provided and led by Vince Cardia of the Owensboro Bourbon Society and Larry Kirk of the Miller House. Upscale silent auction items will be available for bidding including a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon, specialty catered dinners, Waterford Crystal and priceless original artwork.
Among the guests for the evening, the Owensboro Daviess County Visitors Bureau has arranged for a group of German tourists to attend. “The tour groups we bring to the community are always looking for an authentic local experience,” said Darren Peach, Sales Director for Visit Owensboro. “A large group from Germany jumped at the chance to add The Back Woods Ball to their itinerary and has now extended their stay in Owensboro by one day.”
Tickets are $40 and can be purchased by calling the Botanical Garden – 270-852-8925 or visiting any of the three ticketing locations, Moonlite Bar-B-Q, The Miller House, or the Garden.
All money raised from the event will benefit the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden whose mission is to discover, observe and enjoy the wonders of our environment and to provide priceless education in order to foster an awareness of our interaction with nature.
