The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport (OWB) is hosting “Aviation Awareness Day” from 4:30-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the airport.
According to Beck Glenn, Marketing Director for the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Aviation Awareness Day will be an open house with food trucks and activities for the kids, such as a bouncy slide and balloon animals, plus a chance to watch flights take off and land and see airplanes on the ground.
There will also be some giveaways, including VIP passes to the Owensboro Air Show and ticket vouchers to either Orlando or St. Louis, which will be given away every half hour during the event.
Glenn says the public is invited to come and learn about how convenient and inexpensive it is to fly from OWB. “By flying from right here in Owensboro, you can avoid a long drive with possible traffic delays and you can take advantage of very inexpensive parking that is close to the terminal. There are no long security lines at the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport because they board one flight at a time. And security screening begins right next to the ticket counter,” she said.
Allegiant Air is offering four flights per week to Orlando-Sanford which is great for those magical getaways or offers an easy drive to the beach.
Cape Air offers three flights per day to St. Louis which is a major airline hub connecting to more than 60 possible destinations.
Owensboro Regional Airport is located at 2200 Airport Road.
