Back Alley Musicals will hold auditions for the upcoming production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. at Third Baptist Church, 527 Allen St., Owensboro.

An eclectic group of six quirky mid-pubescent adolescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime at a Bee run by three equally quirky grown-ups. Parts will be cast for the following character types: 3 male “students,” 3 female “students,” 2 male adults, and 1 female adult. Cast can also consist of 2 male and 2 female ensemble members. In this show, the elementary students are played by adults, as are the rest of the roles. Actors should possess a strong since of comedic timing, and comfortable use of body language.
Those auditioning are encouraged to be familiar with show songs and may be asked to perform them during auditions. Accompanist will be provided for a song of your choice if you provide sheet music.

Rehearsals will begin the first week of January. The show will be in the Jody Berry Theatre at the RiverPark Center on Feb. 26, 27, and 28 and March 1.
