The Air Force Junior ROTC program at Apollo High School will host a flag retirement ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the flagpole in front of the school, 2280 Tamarack Road.
The school will ceremoniously retire flags that have flown at Apollo High School and other DCPS schools. Honored guests will include members of local chapters of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the U.S. Marine Corps League.
The JROTC unit is accepting damaged, worn and otherwise unserviceable flags from the public. These flags will be respectfully retired during a field training exercise later this month.
Flags may be delivered to Apollo High School between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. weekdays, directed to the attention of Command Chief Franklin Smith.
