AHS, DCHS Combined Spring Concert

AHS, DCHS Combined Spring Concert

The Apollo and Daviess County high school bands will present their 2016 Spring Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Owensboro Convention Center.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The Apollo High School Band performs under the direction of Chris Spivey and Andrew Clark. The AHS Wind Ensemble will perform “Occident and Orient” (Camille Saint-Saens, edited by Loras John Schissel) and “First Suite in Eb” (Gustav Holst).

The AHS Symphonic Band will present “Fantastic Polka” (Arthur Pryor), featuring a trombone solo by Kevin Callihan; “Chorale for Winds and Melodic Percussion” (Julie Giroux), “Jurassic Park Soundtrack Highlights” (John Williams) and “Angels in the Architecture” (Frank Ticheli).

The Daviess County High School Band is directed by conductors DuWayne Dale and Karen Alward and percussion instructor Josh Stone.

The DCHS Trumpet Ensemble will perform will perform “”Soundings” (Brian Balmages).
The DCHS Band will perform “Dancing Day” (Jim Colonna) “Songs of Old Kentucky” (Brant Karrick) and “Walden” (Michael Markowski).

The DCHS Percussion Ensemble will present and “Sketches of the Orient” (Brian Mason) and “Brandenburg Concerto No. 2” (Johann Sebastian Bach).

The DCHS Saxophone Quartet will perform “Sax Lix” (Arthur Frackenpohl).

The DCHS concert will conclude with “Selections from Wicked” (Stephen Schwartz).

Our community is invited to enjoy the “sounds of spring” with the 2016 combined band concert.
