Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari hosted the park’s 11th annual “JDRF One Walk” on May 15, 2016, raising more than $350,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Holiday World donated tickets to JDRF; those tickets were “earned” by individuals, families, and teams who raised donations for the walk.
Highland Elementary School students Brennan Faught and Macy Roberts both brought teams who participated in the walk.
Said Molly Roberts, mother of Macy, “The walk was about family and friends showing support for the kids that have Type 1 Diabetes in our community. It was uplifting.”
According to JDRF.org, Brennan’s Dojang & Macy’s Squad collected $10,205.02 for One Walk, exceeding their pledged goal by over $200.
Holiday World has helped raise $3.3 million for JDRF since the park’s late president, Will Koch – who was diabetic – started the event in 2006. Koch’s widow, Lori, daughter Leah, and son, William, were on hand this morning to thank the walkers.
