Faces of Our Heroes Veterans Tribute | 10 a.m. – 9 .m. | Owensboro Convention Center
The ‘Faces of Our Heroes’ veterans tribute will be on display again this Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-28, 2018. The exhibit was first displayed in 2015 as an opportunity to honor deceased U.S. military veterans from throughout Owensboro. This special tribute to our veterans inside the Owensboro Convention Center includes photos and information of ‘Heroes’ from our region.
Friday, May 25
Friday After 5 | 5 – 11:45 p.m. | Downtown Riverfront
The weather is looking beautiful for Friday night, so why not head downtown for Friday After 5, the perfect kick-off to the holiday weekend! Ale 8 bottling company out of Winchester, Kentucky, wants to offer Owensboro a random act of kindness and will be in the streets of Friday After 5 handing out FREE Ale 8!
Liberty Financial/Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union hosts “Eighty Sixt” a classic rock band on the Jagoe Homes patio stage on the BB&T Plaza at the RiverPark Center, plus Friends Acoustic in the Atmos Energy Courtyard. A great band, The Drunken Hearts, will rock the Legendary Party at the Pier sponsored by Kentucky Legend at the Convention Center. The AT&T “Your Thing” Overlook Stage presents local singer, Skylar Cain, performing her country music show. You can also enjoy the Corvette Cruise-In at the Kroger Street Fair. Special cartoon character, Hans Solo and Chewbacca, courtesy of TD’s Tuff Decisions Costumes will be in the crowd. And Glenn’s Gospel on the River returns, featuring The Conquerors, Still Water and Southlanders Qt inside the RiverPark Center’s Cannon Hall.
Owensboro High School Class of 2008 will hold their PreUnion. Plus there will be free balloon animals and popcorn for the kids and the FA5 Free Foto Booth for everyone! The U.S. Bank Home Mortgage T-shirt cannon will be sending special t-shirts into the crowd! Friday After 5 is the 2017 Platinum Award Winner for Community Event. Friday After 5 is Where the Weekend Begins.
CRAVE Owensboro | 8 – 10 p.m. | Owensboro Convention Center
CRAVE exists to reach out to a generation that may be unreachable by providing a Party with purpose. CRAVE is traveling to 18 cities all over North America including San Diego, Dallas, and Los Angeles and is excited to bring the party to Owensboro, KY! Well-known DJ’s will be traveling all the way from Dallas, Texas to party with Owensboro teens. Doors will open for public at 8 p.m. Must be of high school age to enter. Free to attend. The Farmer’s Market is always a fun family outing, but this weekend there will be even more events for kids at the Kids’ Kick Off at the Market event! All activities are free and include inflatables, corn hole with Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club, the WLES Tiger, live music, face painting, performances by Owensboro Dance Theatre and much more. Kids 18 and under will even receive a free lunch!

A Day of Remembrance | 2 – 3:30 p.m. | Owensboro Memorial Gardens
Everyone is invited to be part of this uplifting Memorial Day celebration. The ceremony will include the VFW 696 Honor Guard, a salute to fallen heroes, the Community Band, DCHS Alumni Ensemble, dove release, and bag pipes. Following the ceremony refreshments will be served at Christ Chapel.
Live on the Banks | 7 – 9 p.m. | Smothers Park – Overlook Stage
LIVE on the Banks is a FREE Outdoor Concert Series. The Overlook Stage at Smothers Park in Downtown Owensboro will feature some of the finest local and regional performing arts and entertainers, every Saturday evening, May 19 through September 29. Live on the Banks is a FREE, family event, open to the public, for all ages, and is presented by the City of Owensboro.

Movies on the River – Disney’s “Coco” | 7:30 – 9 p.m. | RiverPark Center
Join the RiverPark Center for Movies on the River, where families come together for FREE films and fun on the riverfront! “Coco” is a 2017 Walt Disney American 3D computer-animated fantasy film. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel Rivera who is accidentally transported to the land of the dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living. Movies begin at dusk, concessions will be available before and during the movie. Please do not bring coolers or pets.
