Jennifer Busse (high school), Blaire Linn-Neighbors (elementary school) and Jessica Yaeger (middle school) will accept their respective awards at a ceremony Saturday, May 19 at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on the campus of Campbellsville University.

The purpose of the Excellence in Teaching Award is to recognize the quality of teaching taking place in school systems throughout Kentucky. The program began in 1987 by Campbellsville University with assistance from Earl Aaron and the Ward, Cundiff and Aaron Memorial fund at the university.

Jennifer Busse is a National Board-Certified Family and Consumer Science teacher at Owensboro High School where she has served since 2002. Busse earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University and a master’s and Rank I in School Counseling from Western Kentucky University. In addition to her teaching duties, Busse also serves as the advisor for the National Honor Society and is the department chair for Career and Technical Education.

Blaire Linn-Neighbors is a Highly Structured Classroom teacher at Cravens Elementary where she has served since 2015. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Brescia University and is currently working toward earning a master’s in Moderate to Severe Disabilities from Western Kentucky University. Prior to her joining Owensboro Public Schools, she spent one year teaching special education at Tell City Junior-Senior High School in Tell City, Indiana.

Jessica Yaeger is a fifth grade Language Arts teacher at Owensboro Middle School South where she has served since 2009. Yaeger earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Murray State University and her Master of Science in Counseling from University of the Cumberlands.

The ceremony marks the 32nd year for the award to be given to teachers around the commonwealth and more than 3,500 teachers have been recognized throughout the years.
