Now enjoying its 12th summer, “SIYA Camp” is the camp for arts students in our area. With two weeks of arts experiences and a wide range of groups, there is a place for every child at SIYA camp!
The camp begins on Tuesday, May 30 and concludes with a camp concert on June 9. Most campers are in grades 4-9 with a number of high school students joining us as interns during camp.
Major classes meet twice each day and include
- Visual Art,
- Choir,
- Band,
- Orchestra
- and Theatre.
Minor classes include
- Art,
- Dance,
- and Theatre.
Each day includes breakfast and lunch at the Owensboro High School cafeteria. During week two, there is a swim trip to Combest Pool and a camp talent show on Thursday afternoon. Camp opens at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. each day.
“Staffed by our outstanding OPS Fine Arts Staff and supported by our district, SIYA camp is an outstanding value. One hundred and fifty dollars is full tuition for two weeks of arts learning. OPS students can qualify for a reduced tuition if they are Gifted and Talented or reduced lunch students,” said Tom Stites, OPS fine arts coordinator.
Registration forms are available at OPS Central Office (450 Griffith Avenue) in the old Daviess Country Public Library building, at OPS schools, from OPS Fine Arts teachers and on the OPS website.
The registration deadline is May 12.
