Due to such an overwhelming response to the first active shooter presentation held at Calvary Baptist Church, St. Stephen’s Cathedral is hosting a repeat presentation tonight.
John McNulty attended the first presentation. “It was so well attended, there was standing room only,” he said.
The presentation will be facilitated by Sgt. J.D. Winkler, Training Unit Supervisor with the Owensboro Police Department. The class discusses active shooter and crisis intervention in churches and similar environments. This workshop is open to all and is very informative.
The workshop will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 6-8pm at St. Stephen Cathedral
(600 Locust St). Participants should enter from the back parking lot and go down the stairs to the Fr. John Vaughn Community Center.
In response to the request for a second community workshop, Information Officer Michael Hathaway said, “The Owensboro Police Department has been very proactive in our approach to make this community a safe place to live. We are very pleased to see such a positive response by the community; we want to work in a true partnership with those we serve.”
