RidgeTop RVs is an Owensboro based small business started by two brothers, Chris and Cliff Russell. The idea for Ridgetop RV Rentals originated from one of Chris’s friends in Indianapolis who had a similar business where he rented four units from his dealership. Chris, who now lives in Louisville, expanded that rental operation to include the Louisville area, and suggested expanding the business even further to include the Owensboro area. When the friend passed on the opportunity, Chris and Cliff decided to try the concept in Owensboro themselves. Now in its second year, Ridgetop plans to increase operations by adding a second pop up.
Cliff says the rentals so far have been a mix of local and faraway destinations. “Most often, customers take the pop ups to Land Between the Lakes, Kentucky Lake, Lake Rudolph, NASCAR races, and several 4-wheeler camps. One guy rented it for a family reunion and parked it in his uncle’s driveway just to have a place to sleep in.”
The pop ups are available for a two night minimum, and booking is as easy as a phone call. Once it’s booked, there is a short meeting to fill out paperwork, go over details, and demonstrate how to break the camper down and pack it back up.
