Scott Tucker is a man of his word.
Owensboro Living has Scott on record July 7th saying that if the Puzzle Pieces capital campaign goal of $60,000 was reached, he and some other board members would “celebrate by sleeping in tents on the front lawn September 11th.”
You can read that full article with more details about the capital campaign here.
Today marked the end of the “60K in 60 days” challenge, so Puzzle Pieces released this statement this morning:
“Puzzle Pieces, Inc. launched a fundraising initiative to support the purchase of their current location at 1512 Frederica Street. The campaign, with the goal of $60,000 raised in 60 days, was launched on Tuesday, July 7. The goal has been exceeded!”
The final total will be announced this evening at 7pm during a press conference on the front lawn at Puzzle Pieces.
Which means board chair Scott Tucker is ready to celebrate. In fact, he told Owensboro Living just moments ago that his truck is “packed and ready to go.” Immediately following work this evening, Scott will be heading to Puzzle Pieces about 6pm to set up “camp.” Weather permitting, 12-13 people are planning to join him.
“We’ve even got a fire permit for s’mores and hotdogs. So we’re ready to go!” Scott said.
Since it’s opening, Puzzle Pieces has grown into a structured activity center for more than 73 individuals with intellectual disabilities. It provides and promotes independence, life skills, community involvement and more to its clients and their families.
Amanda Owen, Director and Founder of Puzzle Pieces, said about tonight’s announcement, “My heart smiles as I have seen our community members, families and clients come together to support Puzzle Pieces. The Horn Family Foundation played a significant role in helping to match funding already raised by client families of $15,000. We are excited to announce that we have secured our funding with Independence Bank for our building purchase after the success of our capital campaign.”
Tucker added, “We are excited that we have secured that final piece into the puzzle for our organization’s place in Owensboro. We are inviting the community to come out and celebrate with us tonight, September 11th on the front lawn of Puzzle Pieces at 7 pm to announce the grand total raised.”
All friends and supporters of Puzzle Pieces are invited to join them in celebrating the grand total announcement tonight at 7pm.
If you’re lucky, there will still be room by the campfire.
