The United Leasing & Finance Championship will be expanding to Owensboro in 2018 when the Pearl Club hosts the Old National Bank Charity Pro-Am Experience on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Details were explained at a press conference this afternoon. Here’s how it will work:

  • The Old National Bank Charity Pro-Am will be held in conjunction with the 2018 Web.com United Leasing & Finance Championship, which takes place April 23-April 29 at Victoria National in Newburgh Indiana.
  • 156 professional golfers are expected to participate in the 2018 Web.com United Leasing & Finance Championship, which is a week-long event.
  • On Wednesday of that week, the event is expanding to include The Old National Bank Charity Pro-Am in Owensboro at the Pearl Club.
  • The Old National Bank Charity Pro-Am Experience will include up to 24 teams. Teams consist of four amateur golfers and one Web.com professional golfer competing in the 2018 Web.com United Leasing & Finance Championship.

Laureen Cates, VP, Tour Vision Promotions and tournament director, says ten teams have already registered for the Old National Bank Charity Pro-Am Experience, but the event expects to sell out. The event is capped at 24 teams.

The pro golfers who may be in attendance will not be revealed until the middle of December, but Cates mentioned several well-known golfers who participated in the past, including Lee Janzen, Ben Martin, and John Daly.

Known as “the path to the PGA Tour,” the Web.com Tour has produced many of today’s PGA stars like Justin Thomas, Matt Kuchar, Bubba Watson, and Owensboro native Matt Atkins. Matt qualified for his PGA Tour card through his play in 2017 on the Web.com Tour.

During the press conference, Wade Jenkins, Old National Bank Owensboro Market President, announced the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club will benefit from a portion of the proceeds of the Pro-Am.  Steve Winkler, Executive Director of the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club, commented, “We are excited to partner with the Old National Bank Charity Pro-Am Experience at the Pearl Club. The generosity of the participants in this event and its sponsors will assist our organization in funding vital programs that benefit children in the Owensboro community.”

Pro-Am participants will receive a tee gift package, breakfast, on-course food and beverages, and tickets to the United Leasing & Finance Championship.

For more information about participating in the Old National Charity Pro-Am Experience, contact Laureen Cates at 812-430-6737 or [email protected].
