Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department Offering Fall Tennis Lessons
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is taking registrations for youth tennis lessons. The program will give youth as young as four years old the opportunity to learn and master their skills as they work through the various levels of play.

Children ten years and under will be taught following the QuickStart Tennis Play Format, developed by the United States Tennis Association. QuickStart Tennis follows a formula that the majority of youth sports have used for years – tailoring equipment and courts to a child’s size and age so that they develop skills and have fun right from the start.
Learn to Play (for ages eleven and over) teaches forehand, backhand, and serves on full court dimensions. For the more advanced players our Intermediate program will introduce players to match play scenarios.

The lessons will take place at Moreland Park and Racquets will be provided for those without their own.

  • QuickStart 1 will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. for the 4-6 age groups (fee $26) and from 6:15 – 7:15 p.m. for ages 7 through 8 (fee $28).
  • QuickStart 2 and LTP/ Int., will take place Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the 9-10 age groups (fee $28) and from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. for ages 11and up (fee $28).

Classes take place twice per week for two weeks. Session 1 begins the week of September 8; registration deadline is August 29. Session 2 begins the week of September 22; registration deadline is September 12.

For more information or to register, please contact the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department at 687-8700 or visit our website at www.owensboroparks.org.
