Continuing a long-standing tradition of partnership and investment in community health improvement, Owensboro Health announced funding for 38 projects for regional organizations at a press conference this morning.
“We know that positive community changes take teamwork,” said Deborah Nunley, Chair of the Board of Directors. “When we work together, we can bring about changes that benefit us today, our children, our grandchildren and decendants for years to come,”
All together, Owensboro Health awarded $702,924.70 in Community Benefit Grants to 38 organizations and 40 projects, representing every county that OneHealth serves in its 20 locations.
“Each of these recipients does outstanding work and we see it firsthand everyday. They are making real impact in the regions that we serve together,” CEO Phillip Patterson said.

The grant funding process begins in the spring with community grant information sessions. Organizations submit letters of intent and if approved to continue, they submit a formal grant proposal. Owensboro Health also offers a mini-grant program, year-round, for community event sponsorships and smaller health-related projects. (Note: Owensboro Health allocates $60,000.00 in mini grant funds annually.)
In addition to the grant awards announced, grant funds were also allocated to the Community Campus Life Sciences Academy in the amount of $40,000 cash and $12,000 in-kind to educate high schools students pursuing health careers.
Owensboro Health will provide $17,880 to Supplies Over Seas, a Kentucky-based nonprofit organization that meets critical health care needs in medically impoverished communities around the world by collecting and distributing surplus medical supplies and equipment.
