The Alma Randolph Charitable Foundation announced that Danny Glover will be in Owensboro, Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, to be the Keynote Speaker for their fall fundraising event at the Hines Center.
The title sponsor for the event is the foundation’s longtime supporter, Owensboro Grain.
Glover is an actor, producer and humanitarian. He has been a commanding presence on screen, stage and television for more than 25 years. A few of his movie credits include: Silverado, Predator, Places in the Heart, Shooter, Angels in the Outfield, Witness, The Color Purple and Lethal Weapon.
“After reading about the wonderful work the Alma Randolph Charitable Foundation is doing in Owensboro, Kentucky it was not a difficult decision for me to agree to accept the invitation to be the Keynote Speaker for their fundraising event on September 17. It is an honor for me to join in helping ARCF with this year’s fundraising event, and I look forward to meeting Alma and her team and spending time in Owensboro for the first time.” – Danny Glover
Since 1993, the Alma Randolph Charitable Foundation has provided new clothing and shoes for 15,130 disadvantaged children and raised $1,152,593 (net proceeds). Randolph said, “This is a tremendous blessing for the ARCF, because we do not receive any funding from the local, state or federal government. Every year, we start at ground zero and work hard throughout the year to raise as much money as possible with a 100% volunteer-driven organization.”
The foundation receives referrals from local homeless agencies, city & county school systems and youth agencies. Last year, the ARCF approved 750 children to participate in the annual fall shopping event, and partnered with the Cromwell Radio Group to provide clothing for two families during the Cromwell Radio Christmas Break-In.
