It has been brought to our attention that local businesses are being contacted via telephone by someone claiming to be with Owensboro Chamber of Commerce. The caller is asking for personal and account information, stating that they are collecting fees on behalf of the chamber.
The Owensboro Police Department has spoken to officials with the Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and confirmed that they are not soliciting any payments. The Chamber of Commerce has stated that they do not request this type of information over the telephone. These calls are originating from outside the Owensboro calling area and are not coming from the Chamber of Commerce.
If you or your business receives a call like this, it is suggested that you refrain from providing any information and simply hang up.
