In just over two weeks, the Ohio Valley Will Graham Celebration will officially begin in Owensboro. More than 120 churches from across the region are working together to host the Celebration, which will take place April 24-26 at the Owensboro Convention Center.
“You can sense the excitement for the Celebration building as we get closer and closer,” said Celebration Director Sam Hardy. “The key now is for those in the church to continue praying and to invite their friends and family to the Ohio Valley Celebration to hear the great bands and Will’s inspiring messages.”
Graham, who is the grandson of evangelist Billy Graham and has been holding Crusade-style events since 2006, recently returned from preaching in China and the Philippines.
“No matter where I go in the world, I find that people have the same concerns and struggles,” said Graham. “They want to know that they have purpose. They want to know that there’s hope for the future. They want to know the meaning of life. They want security, both in this world and in the eternal sense. These are some of the issues that I’ll touch on during the Ohio Valley Celebration.”
In addition to messages from Graham, the Ohio Valley Celebration will feature free concerts from top Christian bands. Dove Award-winning rock group The Afters has multiple chart-topping radio hits, and their songs have been featured on television shows such as NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” and MTV’s “8th and Ocean.” Worship leader Aaron Shust has won Dove Awards for New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
Celebration organizers recently completed a series of workshops that were hosted at several area churches, which were designed to help local Christians share their beliefs with others. More than 900 local Christians attended these weekly classes, including a special course specifically tailored to teens and youth workers.
