Early registration is now open for Owensboro Daviess County Youth Football. From March 1st through June 31st the early discounted fee is $20. After June 31st the cost goes up to the full amount of $30.
ODC Youth Football Cheerleading Commissioner Sarah Price said the registration fee was $60 until three years ago, when the league decided to lower the price. “We didn’t want the cost to be prohibitive. We wanted to do all we could so more kids can play and cheer,” Price explained. “We’re able to do that because we host two major tournaments, King of the Hill and Kentucky Cup, which are our two big fundraisers.”
ODC Youth Football was started in 1972 and has grown to become one of the premier youth football leagues in the country. Last year there were 16 cheerleading squads and 40 football teams in four divisions, including teams from McClean, Ohio, and Daviess County. All games are held at Waymond Morris Park (5200 Todd Bridge Road) which has four lighted fields.
“This year we’re also excited to add our new 4-year-old instructional league, which teaches the basics of throwing, catching, and kicking,” Price added. “But most importantly it teaches them to play safely and just have fun!” The 4-year-old league is a flag football format that does not keep score.
