Miss Kentucky 2014, Ramsey Carpenter, will be at Settle United Methodist Church this Sunday, December 7, in Shout!, the contemporary worship service, beginning at 10:45. She will join the worship band, playing the fiddle throughout the worship time. The music will have a bluegrass feel with banjo, dobro, mandolin, and, of course, fiddle, along with other instruments.
Ramsey was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2010 which resulted in fatigue and a depressed mood. It also took away the control of her fingers to the point that she could no longer play the fiddle.
As it turns out, “I have MS, but it doesn’t have me,” writes Ramsey. There is no cure, but the symptoms have been held at bay. She not only won the Miss Kentucky crown but she was first in the talent competition at the Miss America Pageant where she finished in the final twelve.
Settle UMC is located at 201 East 4th Street in Owensboro Kentucky.
