Stone baked pizza and a groovy artistic atmosphere are reasons to check out Mellow Mushroom Owensboro. This Mellow Mushroom restaurant features original art and design that pay homage to downtown Owensboro.

The newest addition to the Mellow Mushroom collection has opened at 101 West 2nd Street in downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. The restaurant invites guests to explore its far out design and décor. Indulge in the delectable menu and seek out the captivating art adorning the walls throughout the unique restaurant.

The entertaining, full-service bar features an extensive wine list, handcrafted cocktails, and both local and regional craft brews, as well as more popular commercial brands. Watch your favorite sporting event with numerous widescreen TVs set up through the restaurant so guests do not miss any sports action. The open and roomy dining room area is a perfect way to enjoy time with friends and family. Check out the patio area with twelve tables set up to get the most out of the ambiance of downtown Owensboro. The private dining room seats 16, offers a 55-inch television and features a gallery of 10 paintings of various classic rock artists. This location plans on incorporating enjoyable activities into their schedule after the opening has passed. Events will include a weekly Pint Night, Trivia Night and live, local music.

Mellow Mushroom Owensboro is owned and operated by Bob and Catherine Holderfield. Asked what inspired them to open this Mellow, they replied, “One Sunday morning, our Bowling Green newspaper ran a big story about what the city of Owensboro was doing with their downtown redevelopment. My wife and I went and drove around and liked what we saw. The revitalization of their historic riverfront was just incredible. We started looking for potential sites when we came across this beautiful old building, owned by Terry Woodward of Owensboro, which needed some love. He had already renovated the upper two floors into upscale condominiums, and the bottom space needed a tenant. We combined two adjacent buildings to create the space we needed. This involved creating one seven foot opening for the bar and two 12-foot openings to open the kitchen space up to the dining room. That’s when we discovered the old bank vault in the basement.”

Mellow Mushroom Owensboro’s art collection is a direct reflection of the community’s rich and unique history. Some of the design elements you will see include vintage bottles, sculpted metal, glass mosaics and antique mirrors. Make sure to find the bank vault door, which was once part of the original business in this building. Much like Mellow, Owensboro has a love of all things musical. Multiple artists created a tribute to the icons of music history in the private dining area. By creating an eclectic mixture of art pieces and styles, we hope to inspire an immersive experience and provide something fun and interesting around every corner.

Mellow is proud to showcase its own fashion line. House of Shroom, Mellow’s exclusive apparel line, is available for purchase in store. Preview the full collection online at houseofshroom.com.

Mellow Mushroom Owensboro is open Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. More information about the new Owensboro store can be found online at.mellowmushroom.com/store/owensboro and on Facebook.
