Kentucky Wesleyan College and Brescia University are two of the best colleges in the Southeast according to The Princeton Review. The nationally-known education services company recommends the schools as two of 139 institutions in twelve Southeastern states it named to its “Best in the Southeast” list for 2015. The list is part of the Company’s website feature, “2015 Best Colleges: Region by Region” that posted on PrincetonReview.com on August 4, 2014.
Wesleyan President Craig Turner said of the announcement, “Year after year, Kentucky Wesleyan College earns this designation, a reflection of our long-standing commitment to academic rigor and individualized, nurturing student experiences, as well as the vitality of the Owensboro community. This honor is particularly significant because it is derived through rankings by our students, in addition to institutional data.”
The Princeton Review editors narrowed their choices based on institutional data the Company collected directly from several hundred colleges in each region, staff visits to schools over the years, and the opinions college counselors and advisors whose recommendations the Company invites. Franek added, “Our selections also take into account what students at the schools report to us about their experiences at them on our 80-question student survey for this project. We ask every question that a prospective applicant might want to ask on a campus visit. Only schools that permit us to independently survey their students are eligible to be considered for our regional ‘best’ lists.”
For this project, The Princeton Review asks students attending the schools to rate their own schools on several issues — from the accessibility of their professors to the quality of their science lab facilities — and answer questions about themselves, their fellow students, and their campus life.
The 139 colleges The Princeton Review chose for its “Best in the Southeast” 2015 list are located in twelve states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The Princeton Review also designated 226 colleges in the Northeast, 124 in the West, and 159 in the Midwest as best in their locales on the company’s “2015 Best Colleges: Region by Region” lists.
