Let the drum roll begin! The countdown is on! Two more days until Jimmy John’s opens on Frederica! If you’ve never experienced Jimmy’s, then you may not understand why those who have eaten there before are so stinkin’ excited. Here’s why:
They Deliver! That’s right. Now you don’t have to leave your home or office to enjoy a tasty sandwich.
The bread. It’s baked fresh in-house every day.
It’s fresh! Meat and veggies are also sliced fresh in house every day.
It’s fast! JJ’s has a reputation for being really good and really fast. Whether you order in or have it delivered, it’s coming to you quick.
Jimmy’s Story. Jimmy John Liautaud was 19 when he first started making gourmet sandwiches. In true entrepreneurial style, he checked out books from the library and perfected his own recipe for homemade bread. Once he was satisfied, he started making sandwiches for his friends. Soon he rented a store and hit the streets handing out samples. 2000 stores later, Owensboro is getting our first Jimmy John’s right here on Frederica Street.
They keep it local. As it is with all Jimmy John’s openings, all construction was done by local companies: concrete, plumbers, electrical, everything.
Order Online. Jimmy’s also has huge online platform and social media presence with 2.8 million “likes” on Facebook and a blog with recipes and random, fun stuff at www.freakyfast.com.
Also, long-time JJ fans will notice this building has a new look. As one of only a few stand-alone stores, it has a new design. Owner Ken Butler, who has opened six previous Jimmy John’s, says, “We put a lot of thought into this building. Everything fits Jimmy’s personality. The bathroom tiles are comical. The music will be a little louder. Everything is stream-lined to be really fast and up-beat.”
Butler hired a crew of about 40 employees to get this store running in top notch condition. He is originally from Chicago, lives in Evansville, and says he couldn’t wait to open this store in Owensboro. “I really like Owensboro. I love to bring my kids here. Everyone is so friendly and nice. I’ve been working for 2 ½ years to open this store here and I’m so excited to be opening Wednesday.”
Jimmy’s is sure to be packed on Wednesday, but no worries – you can order in, remember?
