Just in time for the July 4th Holiday weekend, “The Pier” officially opens downtown with a ribbon cutting during Friday After Five festivities this Friday. The Owensboro Board of Commissioners invites the public to attend the ribbon cutting celebration Friday, July 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
The Pier is located just north of the Owensboro Convention Center (501 West Second Street). The new facility features 8,700 square feet of programmable space overlooking the Ohio River and stands in the old location of the Showroom Lounge, which was host to many famous musical acts during the existence of the Executive Inn Rivermont. The Pier can be booked for events through the Owensboro Convention Center.
As part of Friday After Five, roots-rockers Heath and Molly will be performing on the Party Pier Stage to celebrate the grand opening of The Pier. US Bank Home Mortgage presents the Jimmy Church Band on the patio stage, Andy Brasher will be playing in the Atmos Energy Courtyard, and there will be an open bluegrass jam on the Overlook Stage. The Kroger Street Fair will be keeping the July 4th weekend spirit alive with their “Red, White, and Blue” theme.
