On Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 6pm at the Owensboro Convention Center, Wendell Foster will be celebrating its 70th anniversary year of service to Owensboro at its annual benefit dinner and auction.
With a theme titled “Picture the Dream”, the event will include a historical celebration of the organization’s past, current accomplishments, and future goals in serving people with disabilities and developmental delays in our community.
Terry Brownson, Interim CEO at Wendell Foster says, “I am looking forward again to this year’s event. Even while I was experiencing a few years of retirement, I always looked forward to attending this fun night. Wendell Foster always seems to have a great crowd of supporters and their friends at this event. Besides an evening of good food and fellowship, the auction always has some really great items and experiences to auction off for the benefit of Wendell Foster’s services for people with disabilities. People have not truly experienced an exciting auction until the bidding starts on the live auction items that always include not only some beautiful items but also some once in a lifetime kinds of fun experiences. The bidding can sometimes get real competitive, and fun. I’ve seen some of the items and I know there are some that I will be bidding on! ”
Jeff Hagan, Director of Marketing at Wendell Foster commented, “The annual benefit is the primary fundraiser of the year for Wendell Foster. Throughout Wendell Foster’s history, the community has always been very supportive from the Postman’s Walk and Milk Fund collections to local farmers harvesting their produce for us. We are fortunate to have ongoing support from the community. The purpose of this ask is the same today as it was when founded in 1947. In years past, this event generated funds to purchase wheelchair-accessible vans, electric beds, communication devices and other assistive technology. It has helped fund playground equipment and other interactive features for the Sensory Park, just to name a few. In 2016, the benefit raised $122,000 net thanks to our generous supporters.”
