Fall Parks & Rec League Information

Adult volleyball, junior tae kwon do, learn-to-skate, and fall break camp registration now open.

2017 Fall Adult Volleyball Registration

 Dig up 6 players and register a team for our 2017 Fall Coed Volleyball League.

Teams must consist of six players (with at least two women). Games will be played on Monday’s, Tuesday’s or Thursday’s. Players must be 16 or older to participate and if under the age of 18, they will need parental consent. All games will take place at the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Administrative Center gymnasium located at 1530 McJohnson Avenue.

The deadline to register is Friday, September 22. League play is scheduled to begin the week of Monday, October 16. The entry fee per team is $150 and is due at the time of registration. There will be a Mandatory Team Captains’ Meeting on Thursday, September 28 at 5:30p.m.at the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Administrative Center.

2017 Fall Junior Tae Kwon Do

Maximize your child’s self-confidence and fine motor skills by signing him/her up for Owensboro Parks and Recreation Fall Jr. Tae Kwon Do Classes.

Participants learn the basics of the ancient art of Tae Kwon Do while also improving their mind and body. The program offers a great opportunity for youth to improve their coordination and fine motor skills in an energetic, fun atmosphere and also help them develop flexibility, stamina, strength, energy, self-confidence, and balance.

All classes will meet at the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Administrative Center gymnasium, located at 1530 McJohnson Avenue. Classes are available for youth ages 5 through 8 and also ages 9 through 12.

Cost per participant is $45 and includes participant t-shirt. The class will meet on Saturday mornings starting October 14 through November 18; registration deadline is Friday, September 29. The 5-8 years old class will be from 9:00-9:45 a.m. and 9-12 years old class fom 10:00-10:45 a.m.

Learn-to-Skate Lessons – 2017 September Session

The City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center is accepting registrations for its September session of Learn-to-Skate classes. The Learn-to-Skate program is formatted by the ISI (Ice Skating Industry) the nation’s largest recreational ice skating organization.

Classes are available for all ages and abilities, from tots and up and are held once a week on Tuesday’s beginning September 12 through October 3. The registration deadline is Friday, September 1.

Class fees are $35 per person for the session and include skate rental. Classes include 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of practice ice. Class levels and times are available at owensboroparks.org.

2017 Fall Break, Holiday Break and Snow Day Camps

Owensboro Parks and Recreation is offering Fall Break, Holiday Break and Snow Day Camp’s. This is a great opportunity where your child can come to have fun, make new friends, and have an unforgettable experience. It is the only traditional day camp in Owensboro, Kentucky with accreditation from the American Camp Association.

Fall Break Camp will be Monday through Friday (October 9-13). The registration fee is $72 for the whole week and $62 for three days or fewer, due upon registering your child.  The deadline to register is Friday, September 22.

Pre-register for Snow Day Camp for 5 days at a cost of $78. The registration deadline is Friday, November 17. (If fewer than 5 snow days are missed in the Daviess County or Owensboro City school districts, a $12 per day refund will be given.)

Holiday Break Camp will be Monday through Friday (December 18-December 29). The registration deadline is Friday, December 1. The cost of this camp is $72 for the whole week and $62 for three days or fewer.

Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with early drop off at 6:40 a.m. for an additional cost of $2 per day. Camp is for any child age 5-13. Breakfast, morning snack and afternoon snack will be provided; however, campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day.

*A registration fee of $31 is due at the time of registration if your child did not attend Spring or Summer Day Camp in 2017. All camp forms and a copy of their most current immunization record must be turned in the day you register your child. Forms can be located on our website or at the parks office located at 1530 McJohnson Avenue.
