On Thursday, August 21, 2014, members of the Owensboro Police Department Street Crimes Unit, acting jointly with members of the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Kentucky State Police, began executing multiple search warrants pertaining to the illegal distribution of prescription medications suspected to be originating from Don and Daisy’s Pharmacy Plus in Owensboro.
This investigation produced charges for three Owensboro residents that have been linked to this case. At this point in the investigation, it is believed that well over 50,000 prescription pills have been illegally distributed. All three subjects, Haley C. Lyons, Carl L. Hanley and Jessica L. Heichelbech, were lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
“At Don and Daisy’s, we believe that those who have done wrong should face the consequences, which is why we are cooperating and assisting the DEA and OPD in any way we can,” said Don & Daisy in a statement released on Facebook. “One of our former employees was arrested for stealing medication. The investigation is still ongoing to determine the extent. We are truly sorry, we are open for business as usual, and appreciate your understanding and loyalty.
“We appreciate all of the love and support from our customers! We are in business and will stay in business. Our DEA investigation is now completed, no monetary fines or criminal charges were sanctioned. We are very proud to serve Owensboro and will do so for many more years.”
