The Daviess County Public Schools district has been awarded a $100,000 Instructional Transformation Grant from the Kentucky Department of Education. The district anticipates receiving the award to use from January to December 2015, with a potential option for funding additional years.
The money will be used by teachers and administrators to implement Kentucky Core Academic Standards. The goal is to increase student achievement and college and career readiness rates for all DCPS students.
DCPS is one of 18 districts participating as Commonwealth Acceleration Sites in Kentucky, reflecting three pillars of work:
- Advancement in teacher leadership
- Support for full and effectual implementation of Kentucky’s Core Academic Standards
- Exploration, development and piloting of “next generation” assessments
As a grant recipient, DCPS will also receive training and technical support for the Professional Growth and Effectiveness System, Literacy Design Collaborative, Math Design Collaborative and other initiatives.
